A Moment of Vacancy
A series · Streets of Jerusalem
During COVID-19, the city stopped. Streets emptied, façades dimmed, and buildings stood still. Hotels, designed to operate continuously and sustain life even in emergencies, also came to a halt. In their pause, the scale of the moment became apparent.
Compelled by this stillness, I went out to photograph it. Taken in the streets of Jerusalem, this series captures quiet, empty hotels, showing how the familiar rhythms of life vanished, leaving behind a rare and unsettling stillness. This is how “A Moment of Vacancy” was born.
